Omaha Fashion Week Spring Show 2017

Omaha Fashion Week was my first official fashion show for Em's Trends to feature a collection. The day started with me leaving my dorm from UNL east campus and driving up to Omaha. I arrived and began to direct my models to my lovely hair and makeup team. The goal was for the model to illuminate natural beauty. Blushing cheeks and soft eyes with a hint of pink lips was the key. Hair was a variety of braided bun up do’s and the half up to half down hairstyles. Each model had a hairpiece or head crown. I used silk flowers to create dramatic flower crowns and flower barrettes to compliment the garments. Once the models were dressed and had all their hair pieces in it was time to walk down the runway. If you ask any of the models what I looked like backstage behind the curtain they would have responded that she was nervously dancing. They are right. I have a tendency to start dancing when I get nervous in any situation, but it helps keep the mind at ease and everyone in a fun mood! When my music came on my first model walked down the runway. I couldn't see everything that was happening but I was so excited! I heard noises from the crowd such as "ooh's and ahh's". It made me so happy that they were enjoying the show. Finally, it was my turn to walk down the runway. I’ve done this before as a model but it felt completely different as a designer. The feeling of people applauding and cheering you on is one of those feelings that you do not want to have disappeared. I was so happy. A lot of supportive people were in that audience that helped and encouraged me to keep going during the time of creating this collection. After the show, I hugged all my friends and family that came out to support me. I took pictures with my models and thanked them for being committed to the show and helping my dream become a reality. Omaha Fashion Week helped get Em's Trends known in the Omaha area and even the whole state of Nebraska. I am excited to return to Omaha Fashion Week with another collection soon. Until then I will be working hard in Design School and focusing on studying.
